Technology and its ever-evolving usage has transformed the visitor economy in recent years. It has altered the way travellers research, book and enjoy their experiences, as well as how travel businesses talk to each other and partnerships are made.
The 4th running of Showcase Digital, ETOA’s flagship technology event, followed the theme of “The Digital City Visitor”. Our full day conference took a wide-ranging look at how visitors are using technology to experience and share their travels. In the afternoon, we focussed on understanding visitors via social media, big data and personalization, rounding off the day with a look at technology to help with day-to-day inefficiencies in our industry.
Running alongside London Technology Week, we were pleased to welcome over 100 delegates, including established technology players such as Amadeus and Open Destinations, as well as new cutting-edge technology providers from Bokun. These companies were able to talk with buyers from major digitally-focussed travel businesses Viator and GTA/Kuoni, as well as destinations and tourist boards including Madrid, Marseille and Cataluña.
Charlotte Poetzel, Deputy Director of S-E-T Studienreisen said: ‘It’s been a great chance to get to know so many suppliers in only one day without any effort of organizing meetings! The keynote session was an inspiration for further work and the development of our company.’
Next year’s event will once again take place in London in June 2018.
