| TRALLIANCE EXPERIENCED A "FANTAS-TICO" EXPOTUR 2008 |
|
|
As mentioned in the title, the .travel team was fortunate to experience Costa Rica's beauty and the Tico hospitality last week during EXPOTUR. As you may know, Tico or Tica is the nickname of the people of Costa Rica and it is to our new and old Tico friends that we owe many thanks for the pleasant event.
The 4-day exposition was kicked off on the May 13 with a welcome speech from the President of ACOPROT, Carlos Lizama, followed by the distinguished Minister of Tourism, Carlos Ricardo Benavides, and Vice President of Costa Rica, Laura Chincilla. All three addressed Costa Rica's strong commitment to sustainable tourism as well as its goal to become carbon neutral by 2012.
In the following days, Edward A. Cespedes, President and CEO of Tralliance, spoke at two invitation-only events addressing the attendees of EXPOTUR regarding .travel, its progress, and the future of the travel and tourism industry on the Internet. Both presentations ended with much discussion from the audience about the benefits of .travel, search engine optimization, and the costs of registering a .travel domain name. Click here for video
That same interest in .travel was witnessed throughout EXPOTUR. Through various meetings arranged by our .travel Latin America partner, Jose Luis Cabada, the .travel team was introduced to many .travel owners and listened to their success stories. The .travel team was pleased to meet with El Salvador who had recently adopted www.ElSalvador.travel and has since launched various marketing campaigns. Additionally, an invited guest to Cespedes' presentation discussed with the team his plan to maximize the potential and create unique content for his portfolio of 70 .travel sites.
.travel is pleased to see Costa Rica and the travel and tourism industry moving towards .travel. Many thanks to our .travel team in Costa Rica and to ACOPROT for hosting such an outstanding event. The .travel team looks forward to participating in EXPOTUR.travel for its 25th anniversary.

Kathy and Ken Walden, two travel enthusiasts, launched www.OnTrackTravel.travel
and created a new career for themselves. As both were new to the travel industry, .travel presented the opportunity of
entrepreneurship for the globetrotting duo. Taking their combined interest in travel, the Waldens formed www.OnTrackTravel.travel
to offer vacations that are experiences rather than just destinations.
On Track Travel prides
itself with providing the “perfect fit” for its customers. And,
the Waldens found the “perfect fit” with .travel in order
to start their own travel business. Without a track record in the travel
industry, the choice of .travel was clear. Since launch, the Waldens
have used the .travel name on everything from letterhead to business
cards and emails; the .travel extension is a part of every
communication with suppliers, sellers, customers, and industry peers to state
their commitment to providing authentic travel information and services.

Last week, Travel Trade, one of the most reputable travel industry publications, hosted its 26th annual CRUISE-A-THON in Vancouver. The event ran from May 15-17 at the Vancouver Convention Center where close to 800 travel agents and suppliers gathered to attend various dynamic workshops led by the industry's top executives.
As one of the honored guest speakers, Byron Henderson, Vice President of Policy and Procedure of Tralliance Corporation, participated in the popular Technology Panel on Thursday, May 15.
