  Progress Report
Post-travels Showing Increased Growth in the .travel domain

For those that have kept up to date with the .travel team's journeys across the globe, you may already know that we have spent the majority of 2008 on the road educating the industry and the travel consumer about .travel. In all discussions, speeches, and interviews, we have been targeting three major points:

  1. .travel is what it says it is.
  2. .travel is real and relevant (as is the content on a .travel site).
  3. Great .travel names available... buy them now.

As a result of our increased visibility through participation in trade shows, significant e-marketing, press coverage, and the work of our Tralliance Partners, we are witnessing increased sales of .travelnames. In all of the countries that we traveled to including Germany, France, Mexico, Costa Rica, and the U.S., .travel domain name sales are on the rise.

Additionally, we are seeing increased interest of the press internationally. Please see links to the Eye For Travel article written during .travel's participation in Mexico City in early April as well as FVW's article from our interview with Georg Jegminat at ITB in March.

Success stories from travel organizations reaping the benefits

WiZZ.travel directory... 2,000 sites and growing,

www.WiZZ.travel

WiZZ.travel is a worldwide travel directory which, unlike many other travel listings, is focused on the destinations travelers want to visit. With 2,000 sites and growing, www.WiZZ.travel is first organized by continent, then region, and finally a chosen destination in order to be more useful to travel searchers.

The idea to adopt www.WiZZ.travel began as a way to enhance an already existing worldwide travel guide, WiZZ.to, while providing further benefits to its travel industry partners. In fact, since the launch of the new WiZZ.travel domain name, the directory has been a success and has grown to nearly 2,000 listings.

"WiZZ.travel chose to pre-register the WiZZ.travel domain name, as soon as the new domain name extension was approved", commented John Van Gorp, owner of WiZZ.travel, "By using a .travel domain name, websites show that they are committed to their travel website, and that they have been authenticated as a bona fide travel participant."
