.travel Executives Are Packing Their Bags…..

1st Stop Washington D.C.

With momentum to spread .travel across the globe, Tralliance Executives have packed their bags.  In this global journey, the first stop on the list of destinations was Washington D.C. where President and CEO of Tralliance Corporation, Edward Cespedes, participated in the National Council for State Tourism Directors coordinated by TIA, the Travel Industry Association.

This week the TIA brought together the heads of 35-45 state tourism departments from across the United States.  This year’s topics included some of TIA’s most critical programs such as Discover America and New Market Research. Throughout the event, various participants commented on Tralliance’s most recent article in Travel Weekly.  As members of the United States’ $740 billion tourism industry, it is not surprising that many were curious about the changes taking place with Tralliance and the .travel domain name in the U.S. and beyond its borders.

“It was a pleasure to participate in such an honorable group of tourism professionals,” commented Cespedes, “Many of the states represented currently own their .travel sites and are promoting tourism with the .travel marketing tool.”

TIA serves as the public voice and political liaison for the entire industry.  In support of their endeavors, .travel eagerly volunteered to participate in Washington.  Both organizations feel that it is key for like minded organizations to establish strong relationships and future partnership to promote the travel industry to new levels.

WHL is an on-line booking network with a difference. It’s a global franchise with a focus on travel to destinations in the developing world and “off the beaten track”. The company originated from a project of the IFC (part of the World Bank Group), piloting this new model in the Mekong region in Asia. Unlike other global booking sites, each destination site is owned and operated by locals. As a client, you deal directly with local people; better yet the people you book with will be there when you get to your destination.

With WHL’s mission of extending travel possibilities around the world, the adoption of .travel was a natural fit.  Unlike .com, the .travel domain speaks specifically to what WHL is about, with each WHL destination site providing a wealth of local travel information and booking possibilities.

“We decided to purchase the .travel name as part of a re-branding campaign to better identify us as a travel service provider,” stated Len Cordiner, Founder and CEO of WHL “.travel helps identify travel companies like WHL in the myriad of other companies out there.”
